Travel Tips
Luggage
If you are travelling in a light aircraft, 4WD vehicle or boat on an overnight
journey, due to limited space, please keep your luggage to approximately
10 kilograms in a soft overnight carry bag and include a small back pack
to hand carry with you for easy access of your camera, film etc.
Suggested Items to Pack
Cairns/Darwin/Kakadu/Katherine and Broome (all year round) and Alice Springs,
Ayers Rock and Kununurra (September to February).
- t-shirts or cool cotton tops
- suitable sleepwear
- wide brimmed hat
- long sleeved cotton shirts for protection from the sun
- light weight long pants
- jeans or long pants for night attire
- slip on shoes, thongs or sandals
- a light jumper for cool nights in the between May and September
- walking shoes with thick soles for bush terrain and socks
- swim suits and towels
- UV 15+ sun block
- personal toiletries and medications
- long walking shorts
- light track suit for cool mornings
- a small sleeping pillow (if camping)
- sunglasses
- small torch
- water bottle
- umbrella for top end Oct - May
- insect repellent
Alice Springs, Ayers Rock and Kununurra (March to August). Weather can
range from 35°C during the day to below 0°C at night during winter
months, with possibilities of rain.

Please note:
- Jeans and running shoes are not permitted in the Gambling Rooms of
the Casinos
- If you are travelling to Central Australia during Winter (May to August)
you will require a heavy winter coat and pants for the evenings.
