Mitchell Plateau The Mitchell Plateau is an area of significant Aboriginal heritage and home to the magnificent Mitchell Falls. Access to the Plateau is via the rough and steep Port Warrender Road. Allow 3hrs (minimum) for the 85km trip in. A 4WD with high clearance is essential. Towing is not recommended. Travel slowly and allow 2-3 days to enjoy this area. The walk to Mitchell Falls from the camping area takes an hour, but allow 4-6 hours round trip so that time can be spent at the falls themselves. If you wish to avoid the walk or see the Falls from the air, a helicopter is usually located at the Falls Carpark offering a short scenic flight over the fall.
